On three different days, we drove past this dogwood tree on the opposite bank of the Merced River, waiting for the right moment to to take a photo. Finally, late the third day, during the golden hour, we drove around the corner and discovered it and the surrounding pines aglow from the sky of the setting sun. In fact, even Bridalveil Falls reflected the color. So strong was the pines' absorption of light from the sky, I had to be careful of over saturating the reds in the image.

Serving as Executive and Worship & Creative Arts Pastor in a large church in the central valley of California was a joy for many years. Three months short of 46 years I left to pursue life coaching, creative writing, and, quite surprising to me: photography. Photography became a new interest during a five-week tour of the western US with my wife, Carol.
