Description
For two weeks in February, Yosemite's Horsetail Fall puts on a magnificent show for photographers and nature lovers from around the world. During this time the sun is at the right angle to bring alive the cascading water fall on the eastern end of El Capitan. Conditions have to be right: no clouds in the sky just before sunset and water has to flow over the falls. While some water flowed over the falls last year, the two or three years prior were dry. Because of the extra rains this year, all the falls in Yosemite are flowing!
Last night was partly cloudy skies up to performance time. Some photographers decided to leave, but just at the last moment, clouds in the distant San Joaquin Valley cleared.. While the lighting was brief and not perfect, it appeared, disappeared, then just as we began to pack things up, it reappeared. It made the three hour wait worth while.
It's Valentines Day, but we will go back again today. Then off to Savoury's in Mariposa for dinner to celebrate the day with the love of my life.
Happy Valentines Day.
